Frequently asked questions :

These are some of the questions that most often get sent to our Support Team. If you have other questions contact us about them.

Does BattleMaps export to Microsoft Power Point?

Powerpoint can't accept the .bpk files directly, but you can turn the separate phases of a BattleMap into separate image files, then add each to a powerpoint slide. The instructions on how to generate image files are at http://documentation.battle-maps.com/creating_images.html. Chose ‘all phases' to generate the images into a folder you have created for the purpose. Then just inserted each image into the powerpoint slide.

However, if you're doing a talk or a display, you could simply use the slideshow feature of BattleMaps itself, or if you're good with web pages, there is a read-only web viewer that is available as a free-download (see http://www.battle-maps.com/bm_interactivelist.html for examples)

How do I get hold of a free copy of BattleMaps Web Viewer?

Just contact the Support Team who will send you a copy of the program along with instructions on how to use it. You will need to understand about web design, but you could also get the Clash of Steel team to help build your website. Contact us for more details.

How can I mark additional place names or put text onto a BattleMap phase?

There are a couple of ways to do this but the basics are, add an object marking the point where you want text, then give the object a label. For example, use a ‘straight arrow' object pointing to the road, or location, (see http://documentation.battle-maps.com/object_other_add.html ) then put a tick in the ‘show a label..' then added the text in the label box (see http://documentation.battle-maps.com/object_other_properties.html ). You could try drawing a circle around the area to be labeled, even with a dotted line, to show an area of battle, or a fan shape with the polygon tool showing an area of a rout etc.
